What Santa Monica homes actually need
Three things shape cleaning here that do not exist five miles inland: ocean air, an old rental stock with strict move-out rules, and sand that gets into everything.
Much of Santa Monica is rent-controlled units in buildings from the 1920s to the 1970s: small kitchens, original tile, single-pane windows, shared laundry. Move-out cleaning here is held to a higher standard than most of Los Angeles because tenants and landlords both expect the unit returned to the condition on the inspection sheet. Within a mile of the water a fine salt film settles on glass, mirrors, chrome and window tracks, and ordinary glass cleaner smears it rather than removing it. Sliders and their tracks need attention every visit, not once a season, or the doors start to grind.
Sand travels on shoes, towels and dog paws, and it collects in entryway grout, under furniture edges and in the tracks of every slider. It is abrasive, so it also scratches wood floors if it is left. Entry areas and tracks get their own pass in every Santa Monica clean.

Getting in
Most of what we clean here is apartments, and most of those buildings have no visitor space. The crew needs a plan before it arrives — a guest spot, a garage fob or a nearby block that works. Send it with the booking and nothing is lost to circling.
A front desk, a call-box code, a garage fob left with the manager or a lockbox all work. Put the building instructions in the booking notes — the crew reads them before setting off, and calls when they arrive.
Weekly, every two weeks or monthly, with the same crew wherever the schedule allows — they learn the house, and the visit gets shorter without getting thinner. Recurring visits continue until you stop them, with no fee and no minimum number of visits.
